Drugs Group Presentation

Choose ONE of the six drugs from your previous homework assignment and prepare a short presentation for the class due on Thursday, February 28. This presentation should be based on your previous homework assignment and should cover the following:

2. Is the drug legal in Germany?
3. What are the short and long term effects of this drug to your health?
4. Are there ways to treat addiction to this drug?
5. Are there statistics on health related problems or deaths as a result of this drug?
6. Does this drug have any medical value if prescribed by a doctor?
Before you begin, please confirm your choice with me, so that we do not have many overlapping presentations. You may base your presentation on the information from the BBC website we used in the previous assignment or you may use information from some of the websites below:

Study Guide
November 6, 2007
Dear Middle School,
The Systems Test will be this Thursday, Nov 8, as scheduled. I have received emails from several students, saying that they have lost their copy of the study guide. Unfortunately, I am unable to post the study guide online but if anyone would like another copy, I can give you one at school today or tomorrow, or you can find all the material you will need on the website (http://www.factmonster.com/ipka/A0774536.html). The format of the test is short answer. You will need to be able to write a few sentences about each system and its function. Good luck and remember, the systems you are responsible for are:
1. Skeletal
2. Muscular
3. Circulatory
4. Respiratory / Cardiovascular
5. Reproductive
6. Digestive
7. Immune
8. Nervous
No Test
October 24, 2007
Dear Middle School,
Because last week was a public holiday and we did not have a normal sports or health class, there will be no Systems Test tomorrow. We will discuss the new date in class.
See you tomorrow
Systems of the Body
September 24, 2007
Due Thursday October 4 (notice: due date has been pushed back due to blog difficulties)
Your Health homework for this week is to write down one sentence explaining each of the 8 systems of the body that we discussed in class: Skeletal, Muscular, Circulatory, Respitory/Cardiovascular, Reproductive, Digestive, Immune and Nervous. Then try to think of one way in which we can keep each system healthy. This should not be longer than one sentence for each system.
Have a good weekend and get rested for the sports day on Tuesday.

General Information
August 19, 2007
Dear Middle School Learning Partners,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Roland and I am looking forward to being your PE teacher this year. I was born and raised in New York, USA. I have studied in Atlanta, Georgia where I went to University and competed in Cross Country and Athletics/Track and Field.
I have always loved all different kinds of sports, especially soccer, ice hockey, tennis, hiking, and skiing. I believe sport is an integral part of life and is a unique way of bringing people together in a positive and joyful manner.
Middle School Learning Partners will have sports on Thursdays, after lunch break. I expect everyone to attend PE classes and to participate to the best of their ability. If Learning Partners are excused from participation by letter, they are not required to dress for PE, but they are still expected to come to class to acquire knowledge because PE and sports will be formally assessed.
I look forward to seeing all of you at our first class this Thursday, August 23rd. Please bring appropriate athletic dress and footwear.
Roland
